Board-certified child neurologists
The board of the Japanese Society of Child Neurology (JSCN) certifies specialists in child neurology who have professional knowledge, skills, and experience that are sufficient for the medical management of neurological disorders during child development, including seizures as well as motor, intelligence, sensory, behavioral, language, and psychological abnormalities.
These specialists provide excellent medical care for children with diseases involving the nervous system. They also endeavor to use their dual expertise in pediatrics and neuroscience to overcome such diseases and to help people with disabilities by promoting their welfare in cooperation with administrative and educational organizations.
The JSCN’s aims in offering board-certification to specialists are to encourage doctors to obtain the latest knowledge and skills in child neurology and related fields, to enhance the standard of treatment in our field, and to contribute to the improvement of the health and welfare of children. We serve the same goals by organizing a variety of continuing education programs for child neurologists, and we maintain the high quality of our board-certified pediatric neurologists by reviewing them at five-year intervals.
At present, there are around 1000 board-certified child neurology specialists in Japan. Their names are listed in the corresponding Japanese-language page.
